Wellness and the Rising Cost of Food

Published on 12 July 2008 - 7:29

We were just getting used to the idea of eating “well.” Eating “well” means consuming foods that are nutritious and not heavily loaded with empty calories, the bad fats or dangerous additives. Learning to eat for your health is not an easy endeavor, for one thing every time a new wellness research study comes out– the rules change. Fortunately, for us they don’t change a lot, but we must adjust our eating behaviors ever so slightly to eat “well.” It is a challenge, and I congratulate each one of you who is diligently trying to stay alive until next week.

Eat well just got harder. As you may have noticed when you filled your gas tank the cost of gas is roughly equivalent to the natural debt. We are all beginning to feel the squeeze of high fuel costs. To make things worse high fuel prices, along with emerging counties consuming (and buying) more and better foods, contribute to extreme food costs that are spiraling ever upward. It is becoming a major international problem that has not been seen since WWII. That means most of us alive today don’t have a clue about cutting the costs of fuel or foods.

If you are wondering how to stay afloat in the new world economy or you have found ways to save money, please let us know. We would like to pass this information along to our other visitors. Folks, be assured we must make some drastic changes in how we go about the business of living and eating, let’s share answers with each other. We are in this together.

Until next time, be well and have a great day.
