Scary Stuff Going On
Published on 18 April 2009 - 11:55
This is a scary time for our country, oops, let me change that – this is a scary time for our planet. Past economic mistakes are coming back to bite us and we are trying to stay afloat until the cycle ends. If you know financial history you are probably less concerned. Yes, times are tough, but these cycles happen every few years and they cycle back out again. Hang tough, folks!
For now, we are all trying to do what we can to survive the present. In fact, we are learning some of the economic realities that our grandparents learned in the 1930’s Great Depression. We are learning to save, to buy only what we actually need and to stretch what we have. These are not bad habits to adopt and we may come out on the other side of this mess stronger than when we went in.
Prices have risen in the last few years to crazy heights. What goes up must come down. Real estate was moving toward irrational and dizzying heights. If the prices had not “stumbled” they would not be slithering toward stabilizing with more realistic price tags. Without this tough-love corrective influence (yes, extremely painful too) the average working American would someday, very soon, have found himself unable to purchase a home.
I have noticed that many folks have decided to go back to school because they lost their jobs. This is a blessing. If the downturn had not happened they may have never pushed themselves to sacrifice for a dream. Everyone who lost his or her job has my heartfelt sympathy. Joblessness is the worst curse of this money catastrophe. We can help our unemployed friends by recommending them to our employers, offering financial help and being there for them when they need a hand or an encouraging smile.
I firmly believe that we are just as strong and resourceful as our grandparents were many decades ago. We simply have not been tested — until now. We will learn the lessons our economic disaster is teaching and go on with our lives. The good times will return and I bet we will appreciate them more than ever.
If you have learned some tricks for cutting costs or increasing income, let us know. We will group together and share our struggles and our successes. Together is much stronger than alone.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Hugs go to all of you!

I have been an avid admirer of this web site for a while and never really provided nearly anything back, I am hoping to alter that later on with an increase of discussion. Thanks for another new addition for the site.

Check out the above video if you would like to eat healthy and CHEAP–lunch on a dollar or two a day. Now that is good sense and save lots of cents. Eating healthy is absolutely necessary–and eating those nutritious foods on a budget further complicates an already challenging goal. Therefore, we here at Personality One, always looking for ways to help our readers decided to share some of the resources we found. More will follow–let us know what you need. Until later…hugs to all…well, almost all…

More of us are eating at home and learning to shop for groceries with coupons and a sale ad in hand. It can be fun. If you have children give each one a list of sale items to help you locate (they are less likely to bug you about buying sweet health wrecking stuff). Locating just the right coupons can be a treasure hunt. Look on the Internet as well as in your Sunday paper. There are some great money saving sites out there, such as Shopathome.com and Wowcoupons.com. These things are free money–enjoy! I am sure there are lots of other sites–please share them with me.
Also, if you have a yard why not plant a small garden? You can even put a couple of vegatables in a half wine barrel. We have a tomato plant and a bell pepper plant on our small patio. They add nice color and help with the food bill.
Good luck on your “let’s save money” plan. I know you can do it–and enjoy the experience. We are tough–don’t let anyone tell you we aren’t!
Until later…hugs to all..

I completely agree. Now is the time to save and think twice about buying things that are not needed. These tough times come and go. Some worse than others but if you smart with your money you can mitigate your financial troubles.
